Changes to Walt Disney World Resort's Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane entry, including new ways to plan ahead, will be starting on July 24, 2024.
    
Starting on July 24, there will be new - simpler - names to provide more clarity. Disney Genie+ service will become known as Lightning Lane Multi Pass and individual Lightning Lane will now be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass.   

Here’s how it will work beginning July 24, 2024:
Lightning Lane Multi Pass 
When guests purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, they may make up to 3 Lightning Lane selections in a theme park, in advance of their visit. Time selections will also be able to be made. 

Experiences at Magic Kingdom® Park, EPCOT®, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios® are divided into two groups. Guests may pre-plan up to one experience from Group 1 and the remaining experiences from Group 2. 

​On the day of the visit, once a selection has been redeemed, a new one can be booked from any group (subject to availability) via the My Disney experience app from available selections. 

If your theme park admission includes Park Hopper® benefits, Guests may select experiences in any of the four Theme Parks after their first selection of the day has been redeemed.

Lightning Lane Single Pass 
Lightning Lane Single Pass will work much like it does now with guests having the ability to secure a time to ride a high demanded attractions, but guests will now be able to make their purchase and plan in advance for these high demand attractions.       

How to Plan Ahead 
Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel and other select hotels (Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels) will be able to plan Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance, for their entire stay (up to 14 days). This advance purchase window will let Disney Resort hotel guests secure some of their must-do rides and experiences after they've had some time to decide what dining reservations they want to book and any other plans they may need to consider.  

Easier Purchasing
Guests may purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a Lightning Lane Single Pass or both. The app will also be updated to make it quicker and easier to purchase and plan, with fewer steps and a new option to purchase Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Lane Multi Pass in one transaction.    
    
Disneyland Resort
Disneyland Resort will also use the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass names beginning July 24. However, the way guests purchase, select and redeem Lightning Lane passes at Disneyland Resort will remain the same.

TRON Lightcycle is opening early! Between March 20 - April 2, Guests may have the early opportunity to launch into the Grid on TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise during regular park hours in a limited soft open before the attraction officially opens on April 4.

To ride TRON Lightcycle / Run, Guests will need to use the My Disney Experience app to enter the attraction. A standby queue will not be available. Each Guest can enter the virtual queue no more than once per day. Guests may also access the attraction by purchasing an individual Lightning Lane entry.

Guests must have valid admission and a theme park reservation to join the virtual queue. There may be 2 daily opportunities to request to join the virtual queue for TRON Lightcycle / Run:

• 7:00 AM (Guests do not need to be in the park when they join, but must have a theme park reservation for Magic Kingdom Park)
• 1:00 PM (Guests must be in Magic Kingdom Park to join the virtual queue at this time)

What is Disney Genie+: Disney Genie+ is a new product being launched by Walt Disney World that will give guests access to shorter wait times at select attractions at the theme parks. This shorter line is now called Lightning Lane. It will also give guests access to new products such as Audio Tales that will give guests interesting facts and trivia about the parks and PhotoPass Lense that will give those with Disney Genie+ a photo filter that they can use while taking pictures in the parks!

How Much: DisneyGenie+ will cost $15 per ticket per day. You can add this for the length of your tickets.  For example, if you are a party of 2 adults and 1 child with 4 days of theme park tickets, to add DisneyGenie+ (and thus Lightning Lane access) it will cost $180 to add to your package or to your theme park ticket purchase. 

What Attractions are included with Disney Genie+: The attractions with Lightning Lane access included with Disney Genie+ are in purple and are as follows (see picture).

You may only use Lightning Lane to access these attractions once. Once you use your Lightning Lane pass, if you want to ride the attraction again, you will need to wait in the standby line. You can use Lightning Lane across multiple parks if you have Park Hopper tickets. Lightning Lane is subject to availability. 

Individual Attraction Selections: These Individual Attraction Selections (IAS) are not included with the Disney Genie+ service (the ones in blue). These popular attractions will be available to guests for an additional fee the day of their park visit. You do not have to purchase Disney Genie+ to access these attractions.  The price for each of the Individual Attraction Selection (IAS) will vary depending on the day, the attraction and the park.  I was told it would be a range of an additional $7-15 per attraction per person that will be paid at time of booking these attractions. Guests are limited to two IAS attractions per day. You can not add this feature to your package or tickets in advance and payment will be due on the day you add it to your plans.  Individual Attraction Selections are subject to availability. 

When Can I Add This to My Tickets: Disney Genie+, the ability to purchase Lightning Lane access, will start October 19th. We will be able to add this for your length of ticket. If you've already paid in full for your vacation, we can add it without penalty to your reservation.

When Can I Make My Lightning Lane and Individual Attraction Selections: By staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, at 7:00AM EST you'll be able to make your first Lightning Lane selection and/or Individual Attraction Selection for that day. You will need valid theme park tickets and a park reservation to make your selections. It has not been confirmed if I will be able to do this for you or if you need to be connected to the Disney Resort Guests Wifi to make these purchases. I will update you as soon as I find out. Guests of non-Disney Resorts will make their selections when the park opens for the day. 

Don't Want to Pay for Disney Genie+ or Individual Attraction Selections: All guests will have access to Disney Genie (no plus). This complimentary service will be available to all guests. You will tell the app what you're top interests are for the day and it will give you a suggested itinerary to follow; it will also give guests forecasted wait times for attractions, entertainment and dining; you'll also be able to order food; make day of dining reservations (subject to day-of availability which will be limited); and join virtual queues.  

This fall a new queue is being introduced at the Disney Parks called the Lightning Lane entrance. This new lane will offer convenience and flexibility that also saves Guests time in line. The FASTPASS, FastPass+ and Disney MaxPass services will be retired.

Disney Genie+ Service will give guests the absolute use of their time in the parks giving guests access to the Lightening Lane. It will be available to guests to purchase for the price of $15 per ticket per day at Walt Disney World Resort and will include over 40 attractions. At Disneyland Resort, it will be available for $20 per and include 15 attractions. Guests will be able to choose the next available time to arrive at a variety of attractions and experiences using the Lightning Lane entrance. Guests can make one selection at a time, throughout the day. Attractions will include classics favorites like Haunted Mansion to thrill rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and newer favorites like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (attractions subject to limited availability). Disney Genie+ will also include Disney parks-themed audio experiences and photo features to capture your memories – augmented reality lenses for those visiting Walt Disney World Resort and unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads from your day if you are visiting Disneyland Resort. Disney Genie+ will be eligible to add in advance to select tickets.

Individual Attraction Selections will be available to Guests where they can schedule a time to arrive at up to two highly demanded attractions each day using the Lightning Lane entrance – like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park and Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure Park (subject to limited availability; attractions not included with Disney Genie+). Pricing for these high demand attractions will vary by date, attraction and park.  

Lightning Lane selections will be made on the same day of the Guest’s visit and can be used across multiple theme parks, great for those who love the Park Hopper option. Disney Resort guests who are interested in purchase and scheduling an Individual Attraction Selection will have priority to make their selection at 7:00AM; off-site guests will be able to make their first selection when the parks open via the My Disney Experience app. At Disneyland all guests will make their selections once they are in the park via the Disneyland app. 

Attractions will continue to offer a traditional standby queue, or a virtual queue at certain attractions like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – to maximize flexibility. These will be available at no additional cost (park admission will be required).

​For those looking for a complimentary service, Disney Genie will be a convenient new digital service designed to create the best Disney day for Guests, however, it does not include access to the Lightening Lanes. This new technology will help guide Guests through the theme parks to help reduce time in lines, discover magic around every corner and take the guesswork out of “what’s next.” This complimentary service is built into the My Disney Experience and Disneyland App. Here are a few more features:

• Get Itinerary Updates from Morning to Night: Disney Genie will continue to update the Guest’s itinerary throughout the day, so it can be more spontaneous and go with the flow.
• Find Favorites at a Glance: Guests can create their very own personal tip board to instantly see their favorites. It will display current AND forecasted future wait times, helping Guests predict when they might experience quicker entry to attractions.
• Enjoy More Flexibility and Fun: Disney Genie brings existing planning features together in one place. Guests can join a virtual queue at certain attractions, make dining and experience reservations, mobile order food at many locations, get help from a virtual assistant and more.
