Walt Disney World Resort is celebrating 50 magical years starting October 1, 2021! To mark this spectacular occasion, Disney cast members are putting together “The Most Magical Celebration on Earth.” It’s an event five decades in the making!
Beginning October 1, Walt Disney World Resort will be bringing new experiences to the four theme parks and beyond. This milestone is such a big deal, Disney has coined a new word – “EARidescence” – to describe what Guests will see when they visit. The Disney teams are creating all sorts of new decorations that will shimmer and sparkle all day and into the night. Take a look at this exclusive sneak-peak video from Good Morning America with details on this new Celebration.
As part of the celebration, Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park will add golden bunting and a 50th anniversary crest for a festive new look. This is in addition to the royal makeover it received last year.
Cinderella Castle will have even more magic at night with pixie dust upon the Castle. The other park icons will also transform into Beacons of Magic. Magical fireflies will inhabit the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and special new touches are coming to life on the Hollywood Tower Hotel at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
And at EPCOT, new lights will shine across the reflective panels of Spaceship Earth, connecting to one another and resembling stars in a nighttime sky. This permanent new lighting will continue beyond “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” as a defining feature of the park.
Guests will also want to see the iconic duo, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, during the celebration. They will be hosting the celebration and will be dressed for the occasion in custom-made fashions of EARidescent (get it?) fabric with gold highlights and accessories.
In the upcoming months there will be more shared the closer we get to October 1st about the big plans lined up for this 18-month long “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.”
