As early as April 18, the Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line will start reintroducing traditional character greetings! At Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resorts, aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships and at Aulani Resort in Hawaii guests will once again be able to hug and get an autograph from their favorite Disney characters!

Not all character meet and greet locations locations will be available immediately, various locations will open in a phased approach throughout the spring and early summer.

This exciting milestone continues the recent return of entertainment across the Disney parks and resorts. As part of the 50th Anniversary celebration at Walt Disney World,  shows such as “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire” and “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular,” along with the Disney “Festival of Fantasy” Parade and new experiences like “Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade” have returned to the parks. At Disneyland this spring, several beloved nighttime spectaculars, including “World of Color,” “Disneyland Forever,” “Fantasmic!” and “Main Street Electrical Parade,” will return.

Aloha Kakahiaka means good morning to you! This is not just a Hawaiian language lesson, but also a line sung by Aunty during the character breakfast at Makahiki Restaurant, which we’re happy to announce will return on May 7, 2021 to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa.  

Just like other resort experiences, there have been some adjustments to the experience with the health and safety of Cast Members and Guests in mind. These adjustments include enhanced cleaning throughout the resort which includes pagers, seating and dining areas; temperature screenings prior to being sat; reduced contact menus; cashless payments; and more. Please read the Know Before You Go page for Aulani for all of the additional safety measures.

Mickey Mouse and his friends will join Aunty or Uncle for fun songs and entertainment while Guests enjoy a delightful three-course breakfast. Upon arrival at Makahiki, and throughout the breakfast experience, Guests will have an opportunity to take photos with Disney friends to mark the occasion!

A bountiful breakfast will be available seven days a week at Makahiki Restaurant, however characters will only appear  Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. During the month of May, character dining will be exclusive to resort Guests. 

Guests will choose from entrees including fluffy macadamia nut pancakes with a Tahitian vanilla sauce or Hawaiian-style Loco Moco with hamburger steak, all accompanied by pastries and seasonal fresh fruit. Keiki – or kids – may choose the Mickey and Minnie waffle, which includes a Belgian mickey waffle and red velvet Minnie waffle.   

A morning at Makahiki is the perfect way for Guests to start the day at Aulani Resort before exploring vacation paradise. Aloha! Guests to Guests will soon be able to experience KA WA‘A, a Lū‘au at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa once again! We’re thrilled to announce that reservations are now available for KA WA‘A Lū‘au which will reopen on March 27, 2021!

There have been some adjustments to Aulani's lū‘au with the health and safety of our Cast and Guests in mind. Set under the stars on the beautiful Hālāwai Lawn, KA WA‘A immerses you in the live music, traditional dance, and ancient stories of Hawai‘i through Disney’s signature entertainment.  Prior to the show, Guests are encouraged to participate in family activities that are now enjoyed from the comfort of their own table. The activity demonstrations include flower arranging and poi pounding, a process in which Taro root is ground to create poi - a food that is a staple of the ancient Hawaiian diet.

The lū‘au features a three-course plated meal that includes mouth-watering island favorites such as ahi poke and lomilomi salmon salad, imu-style braised pork, island fish, teriyaki chicken, local seasonal vegetables, and a dessert trio. To accompany the meal, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are included in the event price.

After dinner, Guests are treated to an enchanting journey through Hawaiian history and discover its deep cultural roots in canoe (wa‘a) exploration, which brought the first explorers to the shores of Ko Olina. Throughout the evening, lively music and traditional Hawaiian dance vividly bring the show’s story to life.
